Writer's Workshop Thursday

If I Could Take Tomorrow Off Work I'd...
Well, I don't work outside the home because I am a Stay at Home Mom (sahm). But who's to say that us SAHM's don't work. Of course we do! A lot! The only difference is that in our line of work we don't bring home any of that lovely green stuff that helps pay the bills. That and we get to do our job in our pj's, lol. But get this, we're on call 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and here's the killer . . . without pay, without benefits, no vacation or Holidays, no Sick days, no personal days and you can forget about that lovely 401k. Not that I'm complaining because I loooooove staying home with the girls and I'm so sad that I soon have to find a 'real' job that pays with 'real' money to help pay the oh so real bills that are piling up. I'm just describing my current 'work' situation.

So if I could take a day off from work (being a sahm) then I really wouldn't be able to do a damn thing!

Cook breakfast= working!
Pick up breakfast dishes= working
Make beds= working
put in a load of laundry= working
Clean here or there=working

Anything I'd try to do, well I'd pretty much be working. So I guess I'd just have to leave the house, or better yet, I'd just stay in .... yup, stay in and not lift a finger.
The only time I'd be lifting my fingers is while I'm typing up some comments for you all because I'd spend my day off from work reading everybody's wonderful blogs! I've discovered waaaaaaay too many new blogs that I just want to read and keep up with, but I can't find the time... but if I took a day off from 'work' that's what I would do.

Can we say ADDICTED?!?!

Like you I wish there was a day off. I work from home and the combo of keeping house, keeping work, blogging and of course caring for family can be so overwhelming at times. Calgon - take me away!

Sounds like a great day off. I'm like you I didn't put in anytime for dishes, laundry or house cleaning. It's a day off!!

Have a good time!! ;)

It IS addicting, isn't it? I work from home and my new addiction is threatening to take over. If my boss only knew!

I love your blog Solei...truly!! Love visiting; love chatting and you work damn hard!!! I wouldn't be able to do what you do; I tried and my hubby was mad coming home to a dirty house; I didn't know I had to take care of my son and clean...geesh!

I have no kids yet, so that's why I would be doing all of the prep work for the basement remodeling on a day off as opposed to the weekend (so I can enjoy myself).

I know that once I have kids, my schedule will be booked solid.

Girl I so feel ya with the whole SAHM thing. Except I do get a bit of a paycheck thanks to the kid that gets dropped at my house everyday, but that is just more work at home to do!

Oh and Elizabeth is a irl friend and actually told me to start a blog, even though I had already found alot of them. Mine just started as a way to show off my kiddos but then it has grown into a way to make some not irl friends:)

You have my dream job, I'll trade ya! You deserve a day off and if I lived close to you I would babysit for you so you could have some personal time!
I'm just nice like that.

I LOVE this and am laughing SO hard. Yep, we are working our booties off, but I also have started working from home to help with those bills - like you said. Maybe that is an option?? Maybe you've already thought through that scenario.
